How to Delete Multiple Photos on Instagram
Steps to Delete Multiple Photos on Instagram
1. Use Your Instagram Web Profile to Delete Multiple Photos
Since Instagram is a mobile, platform-based app, it makes it pretty difficult for users to navigate through enormous amounts of photos through a tiny, hand-held screen. For this very reason, Instagram developers also introduced the Instagram web profile. Your Instagram web profile, viewable on any web browser, is a fast and easy way to share photos with friends via the Internet. More importantly, it's easy to navigate. We will start by using the Instagram web profiles as tool to get rid of those photos you want to delete.
To visit your Instagram web profile, just type this address into your web browser: http://instagram.com/username. This will redirect you to the web profile version of your Instagram account. You may be prompted to log in again if you try going to just Instagram.com first.
2. Use Your Instagram Web Profile as a Tool to Scan the Photos You Want to Delete
Now that you have logged into your Instagram web profile and are viewing it on your computer, just scan through the photos on a bigger screen. Once you've easily spotted the photos you want to delete, open those photos in a new tab -- make note of each link to every respective photo in sticky notes, on a separate Word doc, or just wherever you'll be easily able to access for copying and pasting. Collect all the links in one place once you've determined which photos you want to delete.
3. Ask Your Friends to Create Instagram Notifications For You
Now, just send these noted links to your Instagram friend(s) and ask them to either like or comment on all the photos that you have sent -- this way, you'll get a notification through the app of activity on the photo(s) you'll want to delete.
If you don't want to task your friends with this, then opening another Instagram account solely for this purpose might be a good idea. Or, better yet, if you already have a second account then just log into that to create notifications on your other account. Doing it yourself may be an even better idea since, after all, it's your own account and you can ensure that the right photos are hit.
4. Check For Notifications On Your Own Account
Now, as your friend (or you yourself on another Instagram account) start liking or commenting on the photos that you want to delete, the notifications for these should start showing up on your actual Instagram account where the photos actually belong. Go to your actual account and check for notifications -- you'll be pleasantly surprised to see now that all the photos that you wanted to delete and were not able to due to enormous amounts of photos have now got sorted out and lined up conveniently in your notifications.
5. Scroll Down to the Options Button on Each Instagram Photo You Want to Delete
Now that you can see all the photos you want to be deleted in notifications, simply click on one photo to start. Once you're at the photo, scroll down to the options button, which should be located just below the photo at the bottom right hand side corner. Click on the options button to get options for deleting the photo.
Upon clicking the "options button" you'll get two options of "share" and "delete" Click delete to proceed to say final goodbye to your selected photo.
6. Confirm Deletion of Your Photo(s); Repeat
Upon clicking delete under the options button, Instagram will ask for confirmation for whether to delete or not. Click "delete" in the confirmation to delete your photo from your Instagram account. After deletion, you'll be redirected back to your notifications from where you can similarly delete other photos, just as you did with the first one.
The deleted photo's notification(s) might take up to 24 hours to vanish from your notifications -- so, don't worry if the notification is still showing up immediately following deletion. The link is likely delayed and will direct you to a blank page if you click on it.
Alternate Methods For Deleting Multiple Instagram Photos
- Other social media platforms. Instead of opening a second account yourself, you can also tweet the links, or post links to your photos on Facebook that you want to delete. From there, you can also "like" it or comment tags -- all of these will then simply show up in your Instagram notifications feed. From there, you can again follow the deletion process as shown above.
- Sorting your photos ahead of time. You can look into the method of future sorting your photos to help you search them more easily in the long run. Before you upload a photo, name it properly and sequentially. For example, with my username Genius_knight, I can name these photos as GK1, GK2 . . . and so forth. After you upload your photos on Instagram, add your unique tag to it -- for example, for GK1 add a tag #GK1, which will help you access it any time via Instagram search for tags. This can help easily group your photos for future access and organizational purposes (including deleting).
As Instagram has become the home for many marketing and business purposes, companies are hiring famous Instagram users to promote them. If you keep your account beautiful and free from (previously uploaded) poor quality or bad photos, you may even be chosen by companies in these circumstances to promote on their behalf.
While Instagram may have some shortcomings, it's still obviously a great hub for people to learn about photography and to widen their network on both the social and marketing front. However, an important note: be aware that deleted photos can't be retrieved, so you may want to back up any photos if you haven't done so already.
